Important Information About Coronavirus Testing (COVID-19)
How Statcare has kept its staff safe since February 2020 during COVID-19 Testing:
Statcare has had a Safety Officer and a full infection control process in place based on the original OSHA & CDC guidelines.
- At the start of the pandemic, Statcare moved its patient registration online, reducing crowding in the waiting room.
- Statcare leveraged all means of communication from Televisit to online chat to service patients at home.
- Statcare’s After Care Team gave all patients 90-day refills. Statcare’s Patient Care Associates handled 62,000+ chat conversations and 30,000+ calls a month.
- In our offices, Statcare focused on keeping staff safe. All Statcare staff has been wearing full PPE’s (gloves, gowns, face masks & shields) since February 2020 when scientific evidence pointed to airborne
and contact spread. - COVID19 patients were STRICTLY seen in tents and designated areas and no COVID19 walk-ins have been allowed to date. Statcare staff continues to disinfect surfaces and contact areas by the hour. And all customers have to wear masks. Statcare’s ‘habit of safety’ has enabled our staff to take care of the communities they serve without
closing any site. We are proud of our culture of safety, compassion, and commitment.
Rapid COVID-19 Antigen Test in NYC
The rapid COVID test by Quidel — called the Sofia 2 SARS Antigen FIA — is what is known as an “antigen” test. Designed to detect specific proteins in the body from the virus that causes COVID-19 in respiratory specimens (nasal swabs), the Quidel test can produce results in as little as 15 minutes. The Sofia 2 SARS Antigen FIA — from Quidel — has received emergency use authorization (EUA) from the FDA. This test is available at all Statcare locations.
COVID-19 Nasal Swab Test
This test helps early detection and diagnosis of the onset of COVID-19 infection with MOST accuracy. This PCR Test detects the presence of the virus’ genetic material and the specimen is refrigerated and sent by our office to the lab. The results come back in a few days. This is the test to get if you have sympto ms of COVID-19 disease or you are at the highest risk for disease (e.g. first responders). Statcare has performed over 6,000 Tests since February 2020. These tests are conducted in Tents or in designated areas so you remain safe with Statcare’s procedures.
COVID-19 Antibody Blood Test
This test checks for Immunoglobulin G (IgG) Antibody helping clarify that you have been previously exposed to the coronavirus. This Antibody starts showing up in the blood 2 weeks after a coronavirus infection. evidence is still being collected to determine if IgG antibodies provide protective immunity against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19 infection. It is not yet clear if these antibodies provide protective immunity against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19 infection. The CDC recommends that these test results and their impact on your work, travel, and lifestyle be discussed with a healthcare professional.
If you have questions about any regular medical issues or lab results, including symptoms or exposure to coronavirus or about your return to duty after a test result, please schedule a telehealth visit with one of our online doctors today!

COVID-19 Screening in NYC Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will I be able to receive a COVID-19 test?
A: Due to recent changes, mandated by the New York State Department of Health, ONLY those who are at the highest risk for severe illness and essential medical personnel will be tested.
If you don’t fall under this category, and suspect you have COVID-19 due to recent exposure or due to experiencing symptoms you can schedule a televisit with an online doctor to be evaluated.
Q: Do I need to make an appointment and can I walk-into a Statcare facility?
Due to high demand, we recommend scheduling an appointment before your visit to save your spot and ensure our team has enough time to properly prepare.
Whether you’ve checked-in online or you’re walking in, we ask that you call Statcare before entering one of our facilities. We will ask you to wait in your vehicle or outside upon arrival and will send you a text message when a physician is ready to see you. Please note: At this time, ONLY patients being treated, guardians of minors being treated, or individuals accompanying patients who require special assistance are permitted to enter our facilities.
Q: How long does it take to get my COVID-19 test results?
A: Turnaround time for test results can vary per patient. However, if you’ve opted in to receive text messages from Statcare, we will send you daily updates regarding results status. Additionally, you can also log in to your Patient Portal to check test results status.
Once results are ready, a team member from Statcare will call you directly to discuss them along with any follow up treatment (should it be necessary). We kindly ask that you do not call Statcare before your test results are ready to check the status.
Q: I’m experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. Should I go to the ER?
If you’re experiencing severe symptoms that could be related to COVID-19, including:
- Chest pain
- Fainting
- Trouble breathing
- Severe/uncontrollable pain
Then you should seek emergency care immediately, either by dialing 911 or visiting your nearest emergency room. For mild to moderate COVID-19 symptoms, you can schedule a telehealth visit with an online doctor or check-in online to one of our 7 urgent care clinics in NYC.
Q: What if I need to be seen for something unrelated to COVID-19?
All of our 7 Statcare locations are still open 7 days a week and, as always, our clinicians are available to treat non-life threatening conditions. For your convenience and to ensure you’re seen in a timely manner we recommend checking-in online prior to your visit. For minor conditions, you can schedule an online televisit from the comfort of your own home.
Additional Frequently Ask Question for COVID-19 Screening in NYC
Most patients with exposure to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the COVID-19 infection, have no symptoms. This test result may help identify a prior exposure to this virus. The significance of this immune response is unknown. Please refer to the CDC for the latest SARS-CoV-2 related updates.
While a positive result from an antibody test may establish that an individual was previously infected with or exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19, the FDA and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) have concluded that there is insufficient information to show that the presence of antibodies protects an individual from future reinfection as the strength of any immunity and the length of time any immunity confers is not yet known. Moreover, COVID-19 antibody tests may produce false negative or false positive results. Hence please refer to the CDC website for the latest SARS-CoV-2 related updates. Also, you may want to check the test manufacturers website as well as the FDA (www.fda.gov) guidance for all the latest information and accurate updates as this information is evolving by the day.
As of now, our knowledge about whether IgG antibodies provide immunity to SARS-CoV-2 is evolving. Please refer to the CDC for the latest updates. Whether individuals with antibodies to this virus are safe from further infections is unknown at this point. As per CDC recommendations, Statcare’s experts will discuss your test results and any issues in your work environment.
At this time, we don’t have enough information about this. It is unclear whether people with IgG Antibodies are less susceptible to infection SARS-CoV-2. As there is more data collected and people with Antibodies are followed clinically, we will have more information regarding this.
If you weren’t diagnosed with COVID-19 infection, then this test can help determine if unknown to you, you were previously exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19. Remember, the majority of people with exposure have no symptoms from the virus and may not even realize that they had been exposed.
If you had a diagnosis of COVID-19 established by the PCR Test, then that is a very reliable diagnosis of your infection. This test can help determine whether you made antibodies or not. Please refer to CDC for the latest updates.
You can go to a City or State-run Testing site for a No-Cost option. Check with your health account administrator as you may be able to submit the test expense to your Flexible Spending Account, Health Savings Account, or other health Reimbursement Accounts.
At Statcare, we have done several thousand tests and the environment for testing is specially maintained under rigorous protocols. Our team has to follow proper Disinfection and Sanitation guidelines as well as record exposure logs of everyone they see that day. Limited slots for testing enable proper procedures and processes to be followed as well as fill compliance and reporting forms. Our staff wears full PPE gear at all times. Our belief is that there are no shortcuts to safety.
After a PCR Test at Statcare for diagnosing COVID-19, you can get this test as early as 7 days after the diagnosis.
Symptom wise, you can get this test as early as 3 days after the last time you had any fever from the infection OR no new or worsening symptoms of COVID-19 in the past 10 days. These symptoms include GI symptoms of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of smell loss of taste, respiratory complaints, feeling tired, having body aches, feeling lightheaded or dizzy, slurred speech, and/or seizures.
It is unhelpful for:
1. Diagnosing a new and recent infection. We do a PCR Test for that situation.
2. If you are unwell or have had a fever within the last 3 days
3. It has been less than 7 days since the COVID-19 was diagnosed by a PCR Test.
4. Direct exposure to COVID-19 in the past 14 days.
5. Your immune system is compromised (HIV, cancer treatment, steroids, etc.)
The IgG Antibody Test detects your immune response to infection by SARS-CoV-2. This is a blood test that does not require fasting. It is a recommended test for persons 18 years of age or older only.
Yes. It helps to get mass testing done, fast. The Pharmacy staff, however, will now need to learn sterilization and disinfection protocols, something Statcare’s team learned during their education as doctors or nurses. Also, the CDC recommends a follow-up discussion with healthcare professionals as the interpretation of the result needs medical knowledge about lab tests, results, and the diseases and their diagnosis. Our team says they would be wary of going into crowded and non-designated spaces for testing.
Yes. There are false positive and false negative tests. Please refer to the CDC and the Manufacturer and FDA websites as these vary by test.
The IgG Antibody Test detects your immune response to infection by SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19 disease. The SARS-CoV-2 is merely one of several coronaviruses. Some of the structural proteins of SARS-CoV-2 are actually common to many coronaviruses. This test can sometimes detect antibodies targeted to other coronaviruses causing a false-positive result. So, if you have been diagnosed with other types of coronaviruses, this might be an issue. Also, if you test too soon after infection, your body may not have had the time needed to make enough IgG antibodies for their detection. This can lead to a false-negative result.
This test cannot tell you whether you are immune to COVID-19, even if the result is positive. A negative test does not mean that you have not been exposed to or are currently infected with COVID-19. You should definitely continue to practice social distancing and take the recommended precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
